Das Zentrum für Umweltethik und Umweltbildung wurde im Jahr 2014 durch die Professoren Prof. Dr. Dr. Johannes Wallacher und Prof. Dr. Michael Reder mit finanzieller Unterstützung der Deutschen Bundesstiftung Umwelt gegründet. Auch nach dem Ende der Projektlaufzeit sind Nachhaltigkeitsthemen weiterhin integraler Bestandteil der Arbeit des ZGF, das mit einer Vielzahl von Einzelprojekten den interdisziplinären Dialog über zentrale Fragen des Umwelt- und Klimaschutzes vorantreibt.

Umweltethik und Nachhaltigkeit als Schwerpunktthemen des ZGF

 

  • Wissenschaftliche Studien zur sozial-ökologischen Transformation
    Im Auftrag der Deutschen Bischofskonferenz entstanden die Expertengutachten „Raus aus der Wachstumsgesellschaft?“ (2018) und „Wie sozial-ökologische Transformation gelingen kann“ (2021) der Sachverständigengruppe „Weltwirtschaft und Sozialethik“. Daneben publizieren die Mitglieder des ZGF regelmäßig zu Fragen der Umweltethik und Nachhaltigkeit.
  • Umweltbildung und Nachhaltigkeitskommunikation
    Mit der digitalen Dialogplattform „DigiLog“, gefördert von der Deutschen Bundesstiftung Umwelt, geht unsere Nachhaltigkeits-Kommunikation online. Die Mitglieder des ZGF engagieren sich sowohl im Rahmen der akademischen Lehre im deutschen Sprachraum und für „Jesuit Worldwide Learning“, als auch im außeruniversitären Bereich mit Vorträgen, Podiumsdiskussionen, Artikeln, Blogbeiträgen und Interviews für Anliegen des Umweltschutzes.
  • Interdisziplinäre und internationale Kooperationen im Dienst der Nachhaltigkeit
    Das Gemeinschaftsprojekt „FLXsynErgy“, gefördert vom Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie, soll unter Berücksichtigung umwelt- und sozialethischer Konfliktfelder zum Gelingen der Energiewende beitragen. Die Mitglieder des ZGF engagieren sich auch in internationalen Netzwerken für Nachhaltigkeit, z.B. für EcoJesuit, Faith Invest, das Kircher Netzwerk oder HEST ("Higher Education for Social Transformation“).

The Environmental Center was founded in 2014 by Prof. Dr. Dr. Johannes Wallacher and Prof. Dr. Michael Reder funded by The German Federal Environmental Foundation. After thespecific project duration concerns of sustainability are still integral part of the Center for Social and Development Studies, which contributes to the aim of the Evironmental Center by conducting multiple projects concerning sustainability, climate protection and environmental ethics.

  • Scientific studies on the socio-ecological transformation                                                  Commissioned by the German Bishops' Conference, our scientists co-authored the expert reports "Raus aus der Wachstumsgesellschaft?" (2018) and "How social-ecological transformation can succeed" (2021) of the expert group "World Economy and Social Ethics". In addition, the members of the ZGF publish regularly on issues of environmental ethics and sustainability.
  • Environmental education and sustainability communication                                                      With the digital dialogue platform "DigiLog", funded by the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt, our sustainability communication goes online. Members of the ZGF engage in environmental concerns both in the context of academic teaching in the German-speaking world and for "Jesuit Worldwide Learning", as well as in the non-academic sphere with lectures, panel discussions, articles, blog posts and interviews.
  • Interdisciplinary und international cooperations for sustainable development                                The joint project "FLXsynErgy", funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, aims to contribute to the success of the energy transition by taking into account environmental and social-ethical conflict areas. The members of the ZGF are also involved in international networks for sustainability, e.g. EcoJesuit, Faith Invest, the Kircher Network or HEST ("Higher Education for Social Transformation").
