#Lessons From Lesvos - Wie Europa seine Werte verrät

Angeregt durch die vorangegangenen Lehrveranstaltungen „The European failure on Lesvos“ (2019), „Philosophie der Grenze“ und „Europe’s Broken Border and Integration Politics - A Critical View from Greece and Germany“ (beide 2021) sind Mitglieder des Zentrums für Globale Fragen der HFPH und des Formation Centers der Jesuiten im September 2021 für eine Summer School nach Lesbos gereist, um an einem der Brennpunkte der europäischen Flüchtlingskrise mit Betroffenen direkt ins Gespräch zu kommen und sich neue Perspektiven zum Verständnis der vielschichtigen Problematik zu erschließen. In der Abendveranstaltung ziehen sie ein erstes Zwischenfazit der Forschungs- und Begegnungsreise, die in Kooperation mit der Aegean University und der FH Würzburg-Schweinfurth durchgeführt wurde. Neben kurzen Impulsvorträgen ist eine Podiumsdiskussion mit Vertreter*innen verschiedener Betroffenen- und Hilfsorganisationen geplant.

Summer School on Lesvos 2021

In cooperation with the UAS Würzburg-Schweinfurth (FH W-S) and the University of the Aegean, the ZGF (Formation Center) is running a Summer School on Lesvos (20th-28th September 2021). Participants are Master students from the FHWS and scholastics from the HFPH.

As preparation and introduction to the topic an online lecture series (see below) has been developed by Tanja Kleibl (FH W-S), Europe Respect Human Rights Now, Nikos Xypolytas (University of the Aegean), the team of the ZGF and further partners.

Moreover the scholastics have prepared themselves during an evening-event reflecting and discussing on Ai Weiwei's "Human Flow":

Europe’s Broken Border and Integration Politics: A Critical View from Greece and Germany (2020)

Poster Webinar - Europe s Broken Border and Integration Politics-page-001.jpgThe lecture series aims to bring attention to the dehumanizing conditions which refugees experience at the EU borders. Through a combination of presentations of research outcomes, the discussion of social workers‘ experiences and activists‘ social and political engagement on the Island of Lesvos as well as the oretical reflections about participation and fundamental rights in the context of flight and migration different views and perspectives will be introduced.
