2017: International Conference

Analytic Theology and the Nature of God:

Advancing and Challenging Classical Theism

The conference:

An exploration of different concepts of God and the divine is highly relevant to core areas of philosophical research such as metaphysics, epistemology, philosophy of mind, action theory, and philosophy of language.

The philosophical concept of God also has a strong impact on our understanding of the many theological doctrines concerning the nature and inner life of God, God’s relation to creation, God’s ultimate purposes for reality and how we understand our own existence in the cosmos.

With this international conference, the organizers aim to advance and challenge our understanding of classical theism. Its interdisciplinary nature brings together philosophers, theologians, and researchers from religious studies.

The conference will be preceded by an international summer school, hosted by Thomas Schärtl-Trendl, University of Regensburg.
